Passport Fee in the Guidelines depends on the current exchange rate of Australian Dollar to US Dollar, it is fluctuating, please confirm the amount by contacting the Embassy 

Requirements for a New Passport: 

1. Complete and sign passport application form 
2. Attach three recent passport size photos identically signed by a "justice of peace". (Attach the photos to the form using cellophane tape). 
3. Certified copies of Australian or New Zealand "passport and citizenship need to be provided. 
4. To verify your address, provide a certified copy of valid driver's license, current utility account, council rates or telephone bill (landlines only). (The accounts must be no more than three months old). 
5. Enclose a registered self-addressed return envelope (New Zealand residents must include an additional AUD$15 for return of their documents). 
6. To verify your occupation, provide certification from your employer. 

Passport Processing Fees: (AUD $160)

All fees must be paid by money order or bank cheque payable to “Embassy of Afghanistan”. It is essential that the currency conversion rate is checked on the day of making the money order or the bank cheque.

REQUIREMENTS FOR PASSPORT EXTENSION: 

1. Write a letter requesting an extension of your passport informing of the requested years of duration and sign the letter.    
2. Attach three recent passport size photos identically signed by "justice of peace" (Attach the photos to the form using cellophane tape). 
3. Your original passport. 
4. To verify your address, provide a certified copy of valid driver's license, current utility account, council rates or telephone bill (landlines only). (The accounts must be no more than three months old). 

Passport renewal processing fees: 

Passports can be renewed for a maximum of five years. They are renewed from the date of expiry. 

Extension fees are:

1 year AUD$30

2 years AUD$60

3 years AUD$90

4 years AUD$120

5 years AUD$140

If you are applying by mail, please include a prepaid, self-addressed return envelope, large enough for the return of your passport and documents. You may use Certified or Registered Australian mail, or any other traceable mailing service or courier to ensure safety of your passport). 

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: 

New passports issued are valid for five years only. You can not apply for any shorter or longer duration of validity. Individuals must carry their own passports. Therefore, the spouse and the children cannot be included in the same passport as their parents.
