Joint Statement
from the Governments of the Islamic Republic of
Afghanistan and Australia
Afghanistan and Australia today, 17 May 2005,
officially launched the new Afghan visa system and
signed two separate arrangements on the provision of a
much needed housing accommodation project in Kabul and
on the encouragement of safe and dignified return of
unsuccessful Afghan asylum seekers in Nauru and in
immigration detention in Australia.

| Australia Establishes Laboratory at Kabul Airport and New Offices at Interior Ministry
A delegation of four officials from the Australian Department of Immigration and Multicultural and Indigenous Affairs (DIMIA) visited Islamabad and Kabul from 25 April to 4 May 2004 to implement a number of initiatives under the Afghan Technical Cooperation Project. The Technical Cooperation Project is a $2 million program of technical cooperation between Afghanistan and Australia on migration management and border control issues.

Procedure
for the registration of a Foreign based NGO with the Transitional
Government of Afghanistan
-
The request for registration should be forwarded to
the Afghan Ministry for Foreign Affairs in Kabul through
the embassy of the home country of the NGO. If the
home country does not have an embassy in Kabul the
request should be made through the Afghan embassy
in the home country of the NGO. The Afghan embassy
will have to certify all the documents submitted with
the request.

The person in charge of the NGO or their representative
should personally fill in the registration forms at
the Division of International Economic and financial
Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kabul.

The registration forms will then be forwarded to the
planning Ministry. After receipt of the US$1000 fee,
the Planning Ministry will forward the request for
registration to the High Assessment Commission for
final approval.

On final approval the NGO will be issued with a certificate
of registration.
