| April 25, 2012 - President Hamid Karzai met on Wednesday with Australian Governor General Quentin Bryce, who was on a tour of Afghanistan that included a visit to her troops in the south of the country.
The meeting held in the Presidential Palace in Kabul, focused on issues of mutual interest including enhanced bilateral relations specifically through the strategic cooperation document that is being worked by the two countries.
Ms. Bryce reaffirmed her country’s long-term commitment to Afghanistan past 2014 and said the strategic cooperation document assures Australian assistance to Afghanistan with special focus on agriculture and higher education.
President Karzai thanked Australia for all it is doing to Afghanistan, both civilian and military and described the strategic cooperation agreement an important document to further cement bilateral ties. |
