The Centre's annual Grand Art and Literature Competition, more commonly known as the GALC, has been in existence for four years in the Afghan expatriate community.

The Centre now announces the opening of this competition for all children & adults throughout Australia and New Zealand. As the Centre has a strong interest in education it will give particular emphasis to this competition among school children and students.

The Centre will provide a venue for the exhibition of entries and arrangements have been made for prize-winning entries to be exhibited in Kabul. It is planned that in future the prize will include travel study in Afghanistan.

The GALC has two parts, one for works of art and the other for works of literature with Afghanistan as its subject.

A theme for each competition will be announced in the year prior to the competition entry date.

Exhibitions

The Centre will organise exhibitions of Afghan art and products from the highly skilled artisan-based small industries of Afghanistan, twice a year.

The intention of these exhibitions is to promote trade and business relationships with Australia. The dates of the exhibitions will be advertised in the Centre's newsletter and the media.
